Resin Pockets

Postby miguelgarcia » Sun Feb 11, 2018 6:39 pm

Hello, Voicech
When I was finishing the top and had already placed the purfling, a fairly deep resin pocket appared, It measures about 40 mm long and 3 mm wide, after the resin is cleaned. It´s in the part of the bass bar, I have read that you can put a patch because it does not affect the sound post area. Do you think I can save the top? Will it affect the sound or the structural stability?

So you're saying it's not visible on the outside top? If so, I would think it's worth patching, especially since the patch will be also supported against the bass bar. I've had pitch pockets appear near the end of carving otherwise blemish free tops. Disconcerting, to say the least.
